SYNOPSIS

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

SPOILERS-FREE REVIEW :

let’s start with what i didn’t like about this book. the characters were flat and mostly i couldn’t connect with them in any way. and i’m referring to yeva and her sisters when their father lost their fortunes i couldn’t grasp any reaction from them nor after the events that followed it’s like : “oh yea that happened *silence* ” and therefore the rest of the story and the world weren’t that gripping.

the world building wasn’t that intriguing i can tell she has a good idea and her writing is good but throughout the whole book i felt like i was only reaching toward the edges of the whole idea and plot when i finished the book i was thinking that’s it?!

everyone called the protagonist beauty. i liked how she wanted this to be closer to the original story i just wish instead of choosing to call her beauty to be the thing that’s related directly to the original story she would’ve had characters in palace with the beast i feel like it would adde more to the story.

what i like is really few : i liked the fact the yeva is a huntress and i found her relatable only when she thought about wanting more an adventure and whatsoever.

the beast was the only character that has depth maybe because we get to see his point of few at a times.

the book wasn’t rememberable for me and it was that bad either it just wasn’t that good.

  1. Great review, friend! We have been seeing this one around a bit and have been wondering whether or not to pick it up, but after reading your review, we think we might pass on it! Like you said it sounds good, but doesn’t seem to be earth-shattering or like one we will remember forever!
