i know a lot of bookworms talked\posted about this. and i’m talking about it now which shows how very important it is!
things non-readers should never- not in a million years- -if they value their lives- say to bookworms
i posted before about THINGS PEOPLE ARE WRONG ABOUT, ABOUT BOOKWORMS how people assume about us. so today i’m also writing things people assume they should say to us!
1- AREN’T YOU OLD FOR THIS GENRE?!
no but i might be old enough to have this conversation with you!!!!!…
no seriously, i’m reading it because it’s a book a great book that makes me happy! people should enjoy somethings even if they weren’t specifically categorised to their age!
2- WHY WON’T YOU READ THE BOOKS YOU ALREADY HAVE? WHY DO NEED TO BUY NEW ONES?
ahhhh my friend i can list 1345999920 reasons why i will explain them to you but i need to go to the bookstore before it closes!
maybe we should introduce the to some nouns (sentences ?) ? like DNF’d it, sequels, read all my books, prequels, book addict…etc
3- IT’S NOT EVEN REAL!!
” why are crying\laughing it’s not real?!!!
why are you talking about them they aren’t real to be your boyfriend\husband?!!!
it didn’t actually happen because it isn’t real?!!! “
those people i’m very glad to abandon them in the empty desert for the desert kraken to devour them! and for smaug to burn them all!!
we know it is not real but when did that ever stop any dreamer from dreaming ( i used some quotes didn’t i hhh)
4- FICTION ISN’T SMART!
non-fiction readers might say this too. yes educational books are very educational! but you should be very aware that smart does not only mean science and physics etc , there’s literature and people majored in it and exams! and smart authors with smart fictional stories too!
5- THERE AREN’T ANY PICTURES IN THE BOOK HOW DO YOU READ IT!
i know that sometimes even readers get very excited about pictures and illustrations BUT we are really good at using our imagination.
it might be just words for you but for us it’s battles, dragons , magic and starlight and way of life!
6- HOW CAN YOU READ ALL DAY ? DON’T YOU GET BORED?
AGAIN battles, magic and starlight!! and much much more..
who would ever get bored ? tell me. unless you’re reading a boring book *sorry not sorry*
and so much more non-readers tell us that really upsets us! what are the things people say that really get on your nerve ?

Lovely post! 💕 I hate all those comments, they literary make me roll my eyes so badly and get disinterested in a person. I feel like so many people don’t take reading as a hobby seriously and then come with these annoying comments.

Oh yes I so agree about letting the annoying persons be devoured by the kraken but I think maybe that would be insulting to the poor kraken. He deserves a better meal. I get soo annoyed whenever someone asks me these just leave me alone if you don’t understanddd. And “unless you’re reading a boring book” YESSS. Amazing post ❤!

What is it with ppl commenting on fiction as if it’s not “real reading”. I’ve heard supposed life coach speakers talk about how reading is good exercise for your brain but only if it’s educational material i.e. not fictional stories. Really??!! 🙄😳😡😕

I KNOW RIGHT?!! it can be very good exercise to your brain (vocabulary, writing, emotional intelligent when you read through someone else’s struggles and being aware of their emotions!) fiction has a different educational materials people should know that!

Numbers one and four are my LIFE. Listen, I’d read more adult books if they weren’t so cheesy and boring and had considerably more mages and less pages of intensely graphic S&M, okay? And I would read more non-fiction if … well, I have no good excuse for that, I just get bored with it sometimes. *shrug*

ugh yess! My uncle came with me to the book fair early this month and he told me to buy books on leadership and finance because I’m studying accounts and I mean WHY ON EARTH WOULD I SPEND MY PRECIOUS MONEY ON THAT????
And I hate it when people tell me OMG THAT BOOK IS SO FAT HOW DO YOU HAVE TIME TO READ SUCH BOOKS?? like mate shut up

I totally relate to this post!! And yes you should never say someone is too old for a genre- or that they shouldn’t read a genre for any reason to be honest! Arghhh how can people say “it’s not real”- they just don’t understand!!! Also- only people who are not smart say fiction’s not smart! I can go to whole new worlds and meet tons of people when I open a book- so how could I ever be bored? Awesome post!

exactly, when someone is saying how fictions isn’t smart it just shows how close-minded they are! that’s why i love fiction so much you discover so much by reading a book!
