so remember life! and how there’s responsibility and you can’t go around buying books whenever you like!, how to be financially responsible blah blah blah..
well sometimes you can’t help yourself when buying books. maybe you want that other edition or you want the whole series in hardback and you kinda feel guilty about buying books and ignore other things.
worry not my friend! here’s somethings to tell yourself to feel less guilty when are buying books when really you are not supposed to.
1- IT COULD BE WORSE, IT COULD BE DRUGS INSTEAD!
YES that’s right! you’re spending your money on something that won’t kill you or cause harm to others (maybe!)
you could be addicted to a lot of horrible things instead of books. so just tell yourself all the things about how books can build a nation and stuff!
2- “I WON’T LET THE TREES DIE FOR NOTHING!”
so essentially paper is made by wood or plant fiber.
just think about it tons of tress are removed to make papers. if we don’t buy books the tress would be dead for nothing! we owe it to the trees to appreciate paper ( logic, yes?!)
3- LIFE CAN BE HARD, WE DESERVE A LITTLE TREAT!
my most used excuse.” UNIVERSITY IS KILLING ME I NEED A BREAK I NEED BOOKS!”
seriously, we read because we enjoy reading and to escape from reality there’s nothing wrong from giving yourself a treat from all the hard work you’re doing. sure you might buy a new book and end up with all the agonizing feels from a character’s death etc.
but it’s okay!! you needed that break you needed to treat yourself.
4- IT WOULD BE JUST RUDE NOT TO SUPPORT MY FAVORITE AUTHORS!
RUDE, PLAIN RUDENESS, UNCALLED FOR, FROWN UPON! THE SHAME!!
just think about it your favorite author announces that there will be special edition of your favorite series. AHH THE SHAME OF NOT BUYING IT AND CALLING MYSELF A FAN!!
5- I’M SAVING THESE BOOKS FOR MY CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN
another on of my most used excuses.
just think about it really. you’re not buying these books for yourself only. you will be passing these joyful great books to later generations! they will fall in love with these books and they will forever be grateful for you for introducing the books to them.
in the future some of my descendant will read my copy of some of my favorite books and they will fall in love with the same characters as i did! ( did i take it so far! sorry i have vast imagination and a lot of time to spare!)
yours could do the same things!
6- FOR EDUCATION PURPOSES.
you’ll learn something new form that purchase. yes you will. may it be that you found new fantasy series and fell in love with it. you will learn that you love that series!
or maybe you will learn that said genre is really interesting. or you you learn that you don’t like these types of books. you will learn possibly a new word. something ANYTHING!
since we people like to support education. it won’t be a waste to buy new books!
fantasy or not. YA or not. you will always learn something from literature.
was my logic logical to you?! what are some of the things you tell yourself to feel less guilty?
Lol. The is cool. You sound a lot like Becky from the confession of a shopaholic.
