A GREAT FIRST BOOKS IN A SERIES

today i want to share with some good series starters. sometimes the first book has all the action an magic while the rest aren’t. maybe because authors introduce the world and characters in the first while the rest is only focused on the plot.

i won’t include the first books of series i haven’t continued yet.

1- THE WRATH AND THE DAWN

don’t talk much about this book. but this duology is one of my favorites i reread this book last year (which rereading a book tells you how much i love it!) the second book wasn’t as great as the first unfortunately. the first book is more mysterious and seeing how the relationship between the two main characters evolve is one of my favorite things!

2- DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE

i loved the first book in this trilogy! unfortunately the rest wasn’t that great at all! the writing was beautiful in all the books. but the world and the plot fell flat for me after the first book. in the first book everything was so magical but i didn’t feel that magic after it.

3- THE BONE SEASON

as much as i love this series i admit the first book has it’s own unique setting that the other books don’t have. don’t get me wrong the other two are great but the first one was good in a way of discovering this new world and wanting more and not knowing what might happen so you keep on reading.

4- FALLING KINGDOMS

the first book isn’t my favorite in the series, but i’ll include it in this list for two reasons. one, it made want to binge read the other books immediately. two, i expected it to be slow paced typical YA fantasy, which was not.

  1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of my favorite books, but I agree the other books in the trilogy don’t live up to it. I still haven’t read Falling Kingdoms, it sounds really interesting.

  2. Great post! I loved the Wrath and the Dawn, and I totally agree the first book is way better than the sequel! And yes! Love Falling Kingdoms as well 🙂
