HII
really what does it for me when it comes to tropes I hate or like, is usually the author’s execution of that trope. sure, there are tropes I genuinely like and hate. but that can easily change if the book was really god.
1- THE INFERNAL DEVICES
I guess this is the most obvious one. I hate love triangles! I Find them to be absolutely unnecessary! but I didn’t mind it in this trilogy at all. on the contrary, my heart was aching because I loved all the characters and I wanted them to be happy! plus, their relationship with each other makes this particular love triangle absolutely heart-wrenching ( in a good way though)
2- POISON STUDY
it has the oh-I-didn’t-know-I-had-special-powers trope. which isn’t a favorite of mine. but I didn’t mind it at all in this book!
3- SHADOW AND BONE
same trope here. yet again I didn’t mind it all. plus, this trilogy had the chosen one type of trope, which again I didn’t mind at all. ( I’m not a big hater on the chosen one trope)
4- THE REMNANT CHRONICLES
please do notice that I mentioned the whole trilogy, not the first book. ( because the trilogy is great, only the first book isn’t) so, this trilogy at the beginning has the trope of I-shall-be-irresponsible-and-run-away-because-daddy-wanted-me-to-marry!! kinda of trope! which for me if it wasn’t to be followed by great events, then it’s just annoying. but like I said after the princess runs in the first book, the story takes a completely new direction, and gets much more interesting.
Totally agree with you about the love triangle in The Infernal Devices! I couldn’t make up my mind about who Tessa should end up with. Your post has reminded me that I’ve been meaning to reread TID for awhile haha.
