HII!!
it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything! I need to get it together and stick to my posting schedule!
the month of august was a pretty good reading month for me. i’ve finally read some of the books that were high on my TBR list!
1- HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS
name: Harry Potter-2
author: J.K Rowling
genre: middle grade urban fantasy
pages: 341
publishing date: 2 june 1999
publisher: scholastic inc
I enjoyed this book more than the first one! the first one was more about the world building. however in this book, it was more about the characters. I honestly can not wait to continue reading these books!
2- SHERLOCK HOLMES THE HOUND OF BASKERVILLES
name: sherlock holmes-5
author: Arthor Conan Doyle
genre: investigation, mystery
pages: 199
publishing date: april 1902
one of my reading goals this year was to read more classics. and I’m GLAD I finally read one before the end of the year! I’m a really big fan of the Tv show Sherlock. so reading the original books was definitely on my list. this story is said to be the most famous of shellack’s stories. I can see why, it was really good. I enjoyed it. I liked the characters specially Watson and Holmes, as well as the setting and the plot itself. however I found myself dozing off at times. at some points the story just dragged on!
3- A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT
name: a court of thorns and roses-3.1
author: Sara J.mass
genre: new adult fantasy
pages: 229
publishing date: 1 may 2018
publisher: bloomsbury
i have a full review here where I basically gush non-stop over this book!
the review: A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT. WHAT I DIDN’T KNOW I NEEDED
4- IMMORTAL REIGN
name: falling kingdoms-6
author: Morgan Rhodes
genre: YA high fantasy
pages: 391
publishing date: 6 february 2018
publisher: Lazorbill
this was on my highly anticipated releases of this year. it was a good series finale, but it wasn’t THAT epic! I didn’t like the book as much as I hoped I would. without spoiling anything I’d say this was a good ending.
5- WORDS OF RADIANCE
name: the stormlight archives-2
author: Brandon Sanderson
genre: adult high fantasy
pages: 1087
publishing date: 4 march 2014
publisher: Tor books
this book was EPIC!! how Brandon weaves the plot, and connect everything together is beyond me! it was just great. with action scenes, plot twists and great characters! I can not wait to read the next book!
Quite a few of the Sherlock stories really do drag but the Hound of the Baskervilles was one of my favourites when I read all of them a few years ago. I really liked the gothic setting and the atmosphere it created. Currently it is somewhere on the long list of books I would love to re-read so when I get around to it, I hope I like it just as much the second time around.
I hope you like the rest of Harry Potter when you get to them. I personally don’t like The Chamber of Secrets compared to the rest but I still find that the series gets better as it progresses. It is also one of the only series I’ve read that transitions from Middle Grade to Young Adult and does it seamlessly.

I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the stories. The setting was quite good, it was actually one of the best things about the story!
Yes! I’ve heard that the series only gets better and better. And honestly, it’s one of the things why I’m most excited to continue reading it!
