the lovely Heather at the sassy geek wrote a post about a list of fantasy books she would make a required reading if she taught a fantasy class.

and that was a great idea for a blog post! specially since fantasy is my favorite genre! all credits go to Heather for the idea of this post. check out her blog for more great posts!

1- THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVES

stormlight

of course, OF COURSE, this was going to be my number one! this series is my favorite adult high fantasy. the world building, the plot, and just the creativity of it all is remarkable!! I think this series will be much appreciated. it’s just the best!!

2- THE NIGHT CIRCUS

this book makes for a really good, light, magical, urban fantasy read. I was blown away when I read it. the writing was absolutely amazing. the setting was magical, so was the plot.

3- A COURT OF MIST AND FURY

ACOMAF-cover1

unfortunately, this book is the second one in a trilogy. so the students will have to read the first one! a court of thorns and roses is NOT in anyway as good as the second book! for me, this book is the best book Sara J.mass has written so far. it is waaaaayyyy better than acotar. and acowar is NOT as good as acomaf! the setting of the night court, how the protagonist deals with PTSD, and the building of good relationship were great and well written.

4- AN EMBER IN THE ASHES

Ember

this is a great YA fantasy series. with dark, brutal, roman inspired world and non-stop action. I’d choose this series because it is the only Dark, brutal series that I can think of. Saba has an incredible writing style. the type that just keeps you turning the pages.

5- STRANGE THE DREAMER

29748925

I know I’ve only read the first book in this series, but that was all it took to fall in love with this book! the writing was phenomenal! Laini will forever have the most magical writing! the world was also magical and cozy!

6- THE INFERNAL DEVICES

Clockwork_Angel_1

this trilogy is focused more about the characters than the plot. and for that wasn’t bad at all! since the characters were great, and the setting was well written as well. I’d choose this trilogy for the students to read because it had some YA tropes that were well crafted and written.
