as a fantasy reader, complex and innovative magic systems are what make me swoon!

there’s just a marvelous thing when the author properly creates a world with interesting magic system and characters.

so I’ll list some of my favorite books\series with their unique magic systems.

1- MISTBORN 

it is no secret that Brandon is one of the greatest when it comes to world building. I’ve read both his mistbron trilogy and the stormlight archives and was blown away by both of them. I do prefer the stormlight archives to mistborn. but right now the magic system in this series is more obvious to me, and it is an interesting one.

 

 

2- HARRY POTTER 

again this most not come as a surprise. but the witchcraft and wizardry in this series will always be one of my favorites!

 

 

3- THE BONE SEASON 

I was skeptical from all the clairvoyance aspect that this series is based on. I’m not really a big fan of that system. but of course Shannon completely changed my mind with the great world building in her books.

 

 

4- THRONE OF GLASS

I’m a fan of the old but good elemental magic system, and shifters, and basically everything good that is introduced in this series. mass never fails with her world building.

 

 

5- THE GRISHA TRILOGY 

I enjoyed the magic in the shadow and bone trilogy, and I missed it in the six of crows doulogy, and I can’t wait for more of it in king of scars.
