HII
did I say that my re-read of this series has brought a lot to my attention! there were so many hints about things to come in the next book that I completely didn’t pay attention to when I first read it!! with each book I keep telling myself how could I’ve missed that?!!
I remember not liking crown of midnight back then, but now my opinion about it have changed completely!
name: throne of glass-2
author: Sara J.mass
genre: YA fantasy
pages: 418
publishing date: August 27th 2013
publisher: Bloomsbury
synopsis:
From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.
Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for
the sequel for the throne of glass series has set the foundation for main plot of the series. at first, the book was mostly concentrated on some of the characters and the development of their relationship. it showed a different side of them that I appreciated. some of the characters were a bit ignored but only in the first half of the series.
the world expanded more to the history, the history of the events that set everything into what it is at the present time. we even get to see characters outside the glass castle. the was just so much in the sequel!
I think this book was based on the characters flawed- misplaced- decisions. this book showed how flawed the characters were. I remember when I read back then that I was angry about some characters, and where other characters ended it to be. but now I can see that the characters have their flaws and they made their decisions thinking it was the best ones. and I’m not at all against reading about flawed characters, I mean I never expect them to be all knowing and right and just all the time. so when I read it the second time I wasn’t angry just sad and heartbroken….
the plot takes a completely unexpected turn at the end, and like I said after the events of this book, the series will take a completely different shift from the first book.
I feel like there’s so much to say, yet I can’t get the words out of mind!!!
I definitely agree that this had some great character and relationship development. And the world really expanded in this one. And I also think that the plot was very unexpected and it made me really heartbroken when I read it. Excellent review!
