another review of the books of throne of glass. I’m not sure if I mentioned this already, but re-reading the series made me love it even more so far!!
I even seem to love some of the characters more than the first time!
name: throne of glass-3
author: Sara J.mass
genre: YA fantasy
pages: 565
publishing date: september 2nd 2014
publisher: bloomsbury
synopsis:
Celaena has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak―but at an unspeakable cost. Now, she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth . . . a truth about her heritage that could change her life―and her future―forever. Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. Will Celaena find the strength to not only fight her inner demons, but to take on the evil that is about to be unleashed?
in the third installment of this series we get to go with the protagonist through a very well written self-discovery journey.
the main characters are still dealing with the tragic events of the second book. they’re still to figure things out. so you can see why this book was important. after all the rage Celaena felt in the second book she feels this emptiness and she’s trying to cope with everything that happened. basically we had an explanation for everything that happened in the past that made Celaena who she is the first two books.
it was very well written. the raw feelings of the characters touched me on so many levels. it was the shifting point of the characters motives, and what they want to fight for in the future.
I can’t not stress enough about all the feels in this book!!! like I said this series has an emotional roller coaster. but this book was focused primarily on the protagonist’s struggles. and it was just beautiful.
reading this book a second time made me realize somethings that I forgot about the series and the characters, it had me see things differently either. and so far I’m really loving my experience of re-reading this series.
new characters were introduced in this book who will play major role in the next books. I loved the way mass introduced us to them.
I remember when I first read this book I didn’t quite enjoy the new characters. especially, Rowan. I remember hating him at first!!! but I liked him more in this book the second time around. and I see how mass made him the one who voiced all these arguments. he was like the voice of the sub- conciseness to Celaena.
the world continues to expand in this book as well. finally the fae are introduced in this book!! and the cadre!!! if you don’t know already mass’s fae are my favorite! and the stories and history that she weaves throughout this book was entertaining.
finally, the only thing I didn’t like was the writing. I can’t pinpoint exactly what has changed, but it felt somewhat different and not in a good way. plus, the excessive use of ” she\ he could have sworn ” annoys me and mass has used this sentence repeatedly in a court of wings and ruin and I didn’t like it back then too.
This book gave me all the feels too!! Great review!
