T5W: MOTHER FIGURES

for today’s post I’ll mention my top favorite mother figures. well, it was hard to come up with this list ( excluding HP characters ). primarily because in fantasy they always kill the mothers!!! why?!! I get the character need that type of loss to move them into action. but why the mother?! why not the father or friend or a pet!! ( okay, I’m not a monster. probably.)

1- SALLY JACKSON – PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS 

she deserves to be number one! I love her and her relationship with her son. she’s really a good mom.

 

 

2- MAURA SARGENT – THE RAVEN CYCLE 

another rare mother figures in YA. this one was strong independent woman who had a great relationship with blue. better yet, she actually was crucial to the plot and not just there!

 

 

3- DEANNA – RED RISING 

though she wasn’t present a lot in the trilogy, I appreciated her character and the bits we got of her. like all these woman she was strong and independent. I think having her as Darrow’s mom shaped him in so many ways in this story.
